About the Artist
Yolanda is a Northern California artist who has lived in the Sacramento Area since she was 3 years old. Over the years she has studied with several artists who she admires. She enjoys creating art with a variety of mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolor and gouache matching the medium to what she feels would be best for the subject. In 2023 she began focusing on painting plein air landscapes and is motivated by the idea of capturing scenes that are changing or might soon be gone. She is drawn to the effect that light has at different times of the day and during different seasons. She loves the process and challenge involved in creating paintings, and its meditative aspect.
Yolanda exhibits her paintings at the Artists Collaborative Gallery in Old Sacramento and at Vines Cafe in the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Sacramento.
En Plein Air Painting
“En plein air” painting is a French term that means painting “in the open air.” It was made popular by the Impressionists and is enjoyed by many artists today.
